Sorrento Arrivals
Travelers will arrive in Naples Friday afternoon and evening, then transfer to Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria in Sorrento. Overlooking the Amalfi coastline, Sorrento is known for its charm, stunning views of the Bay of Naples, and its parks, groves, and picturesque streets. Its origins are tied to the mythical Sirens, whose songs lured sailors to danger. The town’s rustic simplicity, with artisan workshops and medieval alleys, offers a lively mix of locals and tourists. Settle in and enjoy a relaxing evening before the week ahead.
Dinner
Enjoy dinner at the hotel. You may sit and dine if you wish or take a to-go box to dine in your room after a long travel day.

Enjoy a tour and lunch in Pompeii before heading to Rome. Due to the transition nature of this day, there aren’t any additional activities to select.

Group Activity: Pompeii Excavations Tour
Enjoy a 2-hour walking tour of Pompeii with a personal guide, tailored to your interests and abilities. Guides will aim to show at least one site from each type of building. Begin at Porta Marina, explore the Forum’s temples and market, and walk along the original basalt road with features like pedestrian blocks. See human casts of Pompeii residents, visit ancient bakeries and fast-food spots, and explore the Red-Light District’s frescoes. End with a visit to one of the city’s theaters—either the outdoor arena for public performances, indoor theater for mime and poetry, or amphitheater for gladiatorial fights.
Timing: Depart the hotel at 9:30 AM, Approx. 1 hour transfer to Pompeii, Tour expected to end at 1:00 PM

Group Activity: Private Vatican Museums Tour
Sunroc has provided exclusive, early access to the Vatican for an extended tour of the Vatican Museums, featuring over nine miles of art, much of which is not seen by the public. This tour explores areas typically off-limits and includes the Vatican Pinacoteca gallery with masterpieces by Raphael, Caravaggio, and Leonardo da Vinci. You’ll visit general access rooms such as the Pinecone Courtyard, Gallery of Tapestries, Gallery of Maps, and Raphael Rooms. The tour concludes with a visit to the Sistine Chapel and a well-deserved American breakfast at the Vatican Bistrot in Pigna Courtyard.
Timing: Depart hotel at 6:15 AM, Entry at 6:45 AM, Return to hotel at 9:00 AM
